Executive 

Ian Horvath

President, CEO and Founder

Full Bio

President and Founder of Serva Energy and Southwest Software. Prior to entering the engineering program at Arizona State University, he owned several companies, including a custom home construction company and a biofuels recycling company.

He was the lab manager for Oswald research group at ASU starting in 2013 with a specialty in nuclear fusion compositional analysis, which became the basis of break-even fusion technologies. Fusion Energy Solutions formed Southwest Software after discovering the need for better and more versatile finite element analysis software to accomplish the fusion energy mission.

Greg Anderson

COO

Full Bio

Greg was born and raised in Santa Barbara, California. After graduating from Humboldt State University, he ran a general contracting and real estate development company in the Monterey/Santa Cruz area.

Moving with his family to Bend, Oregon in 2005, he continued his real estate development career. The great recession of 2008 fueled his decision to expand and diversify his knowledge. After getting his Series 7 and 66 licenses he worked for Gentry Wealth Management and Aeon Capital, which led him to raising funds for a particular nuclear fusion startup that caught his eye.

Coming on board with Serva earlier in 2020, his goal is to help the world realize the incredible technology that is closely held within the company to this point. Time to let the world in on the best kept secret in nuclear.

Science and Engineering 

Dr. Yiyang Li

Lead Computational Scientist

Full Bio

Dr. Yiyang Li is a computational scientist who has been working to define the vital components of complex problems and to utilize the latest Finite Element Analysis techniques in new ways.

This is achieved by a combination of scientific knowledge, code design capability, programming skill, and HPC cluster managing experience.

Dr. Li worked as lead PhD student for the Oswald Research Group starting in 2013,
and has held several positions at ASU since, including as instructor for a new line of professional classes to teach the next generation of engineers Finite Element Analysis.

Dr. Terry Alford

Associate Directior of School for Enegineering of Matter, ASU

Full Bio

Dr. Terry Alford graduated from Cornell University in 1991 with a PhD in Materials Science Engineering and is currently the Associate Director for the School for the Engineering of Matter Transport and Energy (SEMTE) at ASU.

Dr. Alford is a Co-Founder, and member of the Board of Directors.

Dr. Charles Runyan

Chemistry PhD, JD

Full Bio

Dr. Charles Runyan has a BS in Chemistry from Arizona State University, a PhD in Solid-State Chemistry from Texas A&M University, and a JD law degree from James E Rogers College of Law, University of Arizona.

He has practiced intellectual property law for more than 20 years focusing on patents. He was in-house counsel at Guidant (Abbott) and C. R. Bard (Becton-Dickinson) spanning the last fifteen years.

He also was a senior associate at Squire, Sanders, & Dempsey (a successor to Squire, Patton, Boggs). Currently, he is the sole owner of Integrity Patent Group, a Valley law firm.

Dr. Runyan serves Serva Energy as a patent attorney and general counsel and as a member of the Board of Directors.

Ted Watts

Physicist and Software Developer

Tedd Watts is a physicist and software developer with experience operating ASU’s 1.7 MeV Tandetron particle accelerator as well as shop experience in machining and prototyping.

Neil O'Leary

Master Prototype Machinist

Full Bio

Neil B O’Leary is Co-Founder of Serva Energy and an ASU Academic Professional. Mr. O’Leary has served on the fusion research team since its inception and is a prototype machinist with a unique proficiency in devising simple solutions to even the most difficult problems.

Neil worked as a prototype engineer for VMI and Assa Abloy for the last 20 years where he specialized in prototyping the latest designs to be mass produced for the global markets.

Terry Hurst

Terry Hurst is a designer with a degree in Industrial Design from ASU, as well as has experience in video production, photography and branding. 

He has been working with CEO Ian Horvath since before the company’s formal creation, producing video content for The Student Shop at ASU as well as documenting and assisting in the formation and development of Serva Energy.

Clinton Hughes is an electrical engineer currently involved with the development of electric transportation vehicles for Nicola Motors and excels in research, development and prototyping.

Dick Blaschke

Dick Blaschke has 52-plus years in the high-tech industry, with responsibilities ranging from systems engineer to middle management at IBM, to worldwide marketing V.P. for EMC corporation. He took the latter company from $80 million to $3.2 billion in less than five years. He was vice president of engineering and sales for Amdahl Corp. for five years, bringing its revenues from $80 to $452 million.

Dick has been advising the company on development of the FEA software packages for commercialization.

Tom DiPuma

Tom DiPuma has extensive experience raising investment capital, architecting strategic business and tactical sales plans as well as developing and implementing plans to successfully restructure sales and marketing organizations.

He focuses on guiding campaigns to success through building profitable revenue streams in technology, telecommunications, transportation, logistics and financial services.

He is active in local technology associations and currently serves as Board Member and advisor for several early stage emerging technology companies.

Steve Lawrence

Securities Council

Steven Lawrence is a business lawyer whose practice focuses on the legal and business needs of companies and individuals.

Steve handles every aspect in the life of a company from start-up and formation to
operations matters and agreements to company acquisitions. Steve has extensive experience in a wide range of corporate and transactional matters, including mergers and acquisitions, licensing, securities
offerings, entity formation and business structuring.

Steve drafts and negotiates contracts from day-to-day supplier and vendor arrangements to agreements for purchase or sale of businesses. Steve counsels clients
in business matters, such as technology licensing, leases, employment agreement, securities offering and protection of intellectual property.

Prior to joining Milligan Lawless, Steve was a shareholder at a large Phoenix-based firm, served as Corporate Counsel to SkyMall, Inc., and was Associate General Counsel to JDA Software Group, Inc. He began his legal career as a Judicial Clerk to then Chief Judge Thomas C Kleinschmidt of the Arizona Court of Appeals.
